hye...it is my first class in learning how technolgy affect my life as a teacher. The first thing i learn is regarding the soft skills that are need to be incorporated in the learning process. The soft skills consist of 6 things that is; 1) Communication 2) Critical Thinking (creativity) 3) Team work 4) Moral and Ethics 5) Leadership 6) Entreprenoship. This soft skill would enable me as a teacher to enhance myself to be a good, not just good but also a teacher who are capable and able to cope with the style of learning in the 21st century.
In this first lesson, I also realize that there are many types of students which have different styles of learning. For example, Auditory Learners, Visual learners and kinaesthetic learners. As a teacher, I need to understand this and try my best to incorporate this in my teaching.
In addition, I also learn why do the students power down when they are in the classroom. My lecturer stated some example which make the students do not feel excited to learn. The example is either they do not understand the language, feel boring or sleepy as the lesson is not interesting.
There are some issues that have been raised during the class. One of the issue is that what are the things that are difficult to change in school. Based on the note given and discussion, things that are difficult to change is culture, environment, bureaucracy, rules, community and school mindset.
In this lesson, I also learnt what is the meaning of engagement. Engagement means that the students are attracted and engage with the learning process. Students need to engage with the object of study, engage with the context of the subject of study and also with human condition. As a teacher, we need achieve this goal and make the students engage with the lesson. When students are interested and engaged in teaching and learning process, they could understand it better, thus give positive results.
I have also learn that leaning is facilitates when engage in solving real world problem, their existing knowledge is activated, their new knowledge is demonsrated and integrated into the learner's world.
Basically, being a teacher is not as easy as i think. I need to considerate many factor that could affect the teaching and learning process and also how to enhance the teaching and learning process so the students will benefit from it..... tq. :-)
